Six swimmers compete in Sunderland

Sunday brought about our first swimming event of the season, when our swimmers went to Sunderland for a Special Olympics Northern local competition. Six of our swimmers competed: Sandra Armstrong, Helen Knox, Christopher McDonnel, Paul O’Neil, Angela Winn and Dan Wood with Angela and Helen competing in this type of competition for the very first time. Each of our swimmers were exceptional and in total won an outstanding 22 medals. The club has now won precisely 400 medals from regional, national and international competitions since it formed in June 2014.

Our swimmers won the following medals;
Daniel Wood – 2 silver 1 bronze
Paul O’Neil – 2 gold 1 silver 1 bronze
Sandra Armstrong – 3 gold 2 bronze
Angela Winn – 1 silver 1 bronze
Christopher McDonnel – 1 gold 4 silver
Helen Knox – 1 gold 1 silver 1 bronze
